The Scarf

A chilly evening in spring
His neck kept warm
By the scarf she lended him

The traces of her perfume
Gently caressing his senses

The scent of the dance he so loves
Closing his eyes
His mind starts to wander

How he has matured as a dancer
Used to think tango was just love

Now knowing it's so much more
His heart rejoices
The poetry of friendship

True honest love from person to person
Without fear, without judgement
Jealousy ceases to exist

A pure personality
A humble smile invites
Will you join my journey?

Dreams and reality
Hug one another
And walk in harmony

Providing shelter
But the door never closed
Freedom to fly out
Into clouds of happiness

This greatest gift of all
Expressed with movements
In close embrace

Caring and giving warmth
Just like the scarf is doing
Close comfort without strangling

He opens his eyes
Watching those so dear to him
He quietly mumbles

I love being a tanguero
